What is technology, anyway? Is it a god? Is it a distraction?
Short answer: no one has really answered the question.
The bourgeoises developers, faceless and nameless for the most part, have not even attempted an answer. Atheism is so concrete... but it doesn't quite take hold. Science fiction claws at an answer... but we all know it's not real. "You can be anything... except a Christian," the chorus sings. The least-demanding and vaguest interpretations of eastern mysticism are likely the frontrunners in the race to provide answers.
Without an answer to the question of what technology is, the brave new world of technological progress and constant updates has no destination, and its architects are at a loss. The secular media takes note.
